Preparing for Your Child's First Visit to the Dentist

We see children in our office at age 3 for a routine dental checkup. We approach this appointment as a friendly introduction to the dentist; it may be just a fun ride in the dental chair, and that's okay!

Set the Stage for a Fun Adventure

To prepare your child for a visit to the dentist, while you are brushing your child's teeth, let them know that we will do this too and will help them keep their teeth clean and shiny. Teach them how to “open big” so you can count their teeth, and read fun children's books together about visiting the dentist to show them what a dental office looks like.

Most of all, don't worry. Our dentists and our team are very comfortable in responding to your child's reactions, and we will make sure to keep things fun. We know that making your child's dental visits an entertaining and interesting event will help them develop healthy dental habits as they mature.
